Create Media Manager Configuration

Create Media Manager Configuration

To Create a Media Manager Configuration, you can choose from the following options:

  1. Quick Configuration/New: Designed for a fast and efficient setup, allowing you to create a configuration quickly while retaining comprehensive details for advanced setups.

  2. Clone: Clone from an existing configuration.

Note: Quick Configuration is the first step in creating a new configuration. It provides a streamlined setup process for basic configurations.

Create New Configuration

The Create New Configuration page is designed to set up Media Manager configurations quickly and efficiently. This page also supports Quick Configuration, providing a simplified interface for quick configurations while still including all the necessary details for more complex setups.

When using Quick Configuration, you will fill in the same details as a standard configuration but with a streamlined interface to minimize time spent on setup.

When selecting the "New" option, you will be directed to create a Media Manager Configuration. This involves filling in details for the following fields:

Basic Configuration Details

  • Configuration Name: Provide a title for the configuration.

  • API Name: Automatically generated based on the provided title.

  • Display Label: Text to display as the header of the component for Slider, List, and Tile Views.

  • Description: Optionally, add additional details about the configuration.

  • File Source: Select the source to preview files from (Attachments / Files / Both).

  • Default Sort Field: Users can now apply sorting for multiple fields to refine the order of displayed files, depending on the selected source.
    a. If the Source selected is "Attachment," it allows all the sortable fields from the "Attachment" object to be sorted.
    b. If the Source selected is "Files," it allows all the sortable fields from the "Content Version" object to be sorted.
    c. If the Source selected is "Both," the sortable fields are Name, Created Date, and Last Modified Date.

Note:

  • This field is limited to Media Manager fields only. To sort or enable sorting for Object fields, configure these settings under the File Tree tab.

  • The "Group By" feature is only available when Files or Attachments are selected as source. If Both is selected, grouping will not be enabled.

In this section, users can configure which object and related object files to render. Options include:

  • None: Allows managing or viewing files placed under any object page.

  • Single Level - File Tree: Facilitates managing or viewing the files of the primary object and its single child object.

  • Multiple Level - File Tree: Enables managing or viewing files by traversing both parent and child objects from the primary object.

NOTE: To view the File Tree setup from the End-user side, ensure the “Enable Folder View” checkbox is selected under the File Tree Settings. Without this selection, the File Tree configuration will not be accessible to end-users.

Steps for Quick Configuration

The Quick Configuration page is designed for swift setup of basic Media Manager configurations. Completing this setup takes only a few seconds, allowing you to get started immediately. It serves as the first step in creating a new configuration.

Consider a scenario where you need to manage media files for the Case Object. In this case, follow these swift steps to set up a configuration:

  1. Name the Configuration: Provide a descriptive title for the configuration, such as "Case Media Files."

  2. Add Fields: Select the relevant fields to display in the Media Manager component, such as Name, File Type, and Last Modified Date.

  3. Set File Tree: If necessary, configure the file tree to access files across various objects. You have the flexibility to select one of three options to set up the File tree:

a. None: Create a configuration without any object selection.

b. Single Level: Focus solely on the primary object and its child records for a single level of hierarchy.

c. Multiple Levels: Choose this option to configure up to 15 objects in the hierarchy for more comprehensive file management.

For more details on setting up the File Tree, refer to the relevant section here

  1. Save: Once you've configured everything, simply save the configuration. It's now ready for use on Case detail pages, allowing easy access to media files associated with each Case.

Clone an existing Configuration

Selecting the "Clone" option under the action's column of the Media Manager Configuration list view prompts you to enter a new name. You can rename the new configuration.

Clone existing configurations by adding the "clone" keyword to the configuration label and name in the clone model. Modify configuration details as required after cloning.
