Versioning & “Upload New Version”: How it works?
Versioning preserves a file’s identity while keeping a history of changes. Upload New Version replaces the active version but retains previous versions for audit and reference. One—and only one—version is active at any time.
What changes and what stays the same
Uploading a new version keeps the file reference stable, so links and usage remain intact, while the history logs the timestamp and version number. This avoids duplicate records and maintains continuity across the system.
Where versioning works
Upload New Version is intended for all supported file types and is available across Slider, List, and Tile. Version history can be browsed in Slider.
HEIC notes in versioning
HEIC previews are supported, but HEIC and JFIF do not support a preview inside version history; users are redirected to the Salesforce screen for those versions. Consider converting HEIC to JPG to use image editing and to improve consistency.
Considerations
Ensure the new version’s type is allowed by your configuration’s upload settings; unsupported types are rejected.
